For the first time since the children were small and Christmas was magically reflected in their eyes, I was reluctant to take down our Christmas tree. Why? The total answer is complex, but here is a piece: as pictured in an earlier post, traditional ornaments were replaced with beloved family objects on the tree. Somehow, they spoke to my soul. Remembrances of family long departed, quirky bits that I love, children’s belongings that speak of a past chapter of my life…..beautiful together.
I step into the new year with so much to cherish from the past, so much to anticipate in the coming year….with gratitude. In whatever chapter or circumstance of life we find ourselves, ‘gratitude turns what we have into enough’.
So very sweet! I like your inspiration to display memories. The reminder that gratitude turns what we have into enough is powerful.
Thank you for your post, Susan.
Susan, I love your blog! Thank you for sharing. I love all the images of the things you collect. I wish I’d seen a photo of your tree. Your artistic sensibilities add so much more than beauty (as if that weren’t enough). They add meaning, as well. Happy New Year!
