Pomelo Sorbet

….or do you prefer grapefruit…?

sorbet – a fruit or vegetable ice, often served served between courses to refresh the palate

pomelo – the very large, yellow or orange citrus fruit of a tree, Citrus maxima, of South East Asia, closely related to the grapefruit.

grapefruit – a large, roundish, yellow-skinned, edible citrus fruit having a juicy, acid pulp; the tropical or semitropical tree, Citrus paradisi

Combine 2 cups sugar and 2 cups water

simmer 3 – 4 minutes

cool completely, then add 1 1/2 cups pomelo juice and 1 tablespoon pomelo zest

pour into freezer bowl and let mix for 25 – 30 minutes until slushy

serve with fresh basil leaf

verdict:  I alone liked the pomelo sorbet better.  Three to one in favor of grapefruit!!!
