When hired to design a kitchen or bath using tile, I almost always recommend something neutral that does not make a strong statement (keeping in mind that neutral does not equate with insipid!). I prefer to see tile, and the texture it brings to a room, as a background rather than a statement.
However, there are always exceptions!!!
