Traditionally contemporary

A new challenge is music to a designer’s soul…when that challenge comes mid-project the music is taken to a whole new volume.

Working on a lovely French country home…redoing floors, choosing light fixtures and furnishings, aging ironwork…all in a slightly subdued traditional palette, the client adds a striking abstract painting to the score!

Integrating this piece into the evolving melody, we decided to play to its strengths:

color and more color!

in my dreams…………

As a designer, rarely have I seen a painting that has the potential to drive an entire project.

Although this photo shows only a portion of the piece, my heart flutters…..

In my dreams I would design a contemporary cottage with plastered white walls, dark, metal-trimmed glass doors and windows, hung only with sunshine and starlight;

open to oaks and lemon trees, gravel paths, mustard fields and mountain views.
