A day of gratitude

So grateful today for all who have gone before…..

….to those who gave their last full measure of devotion to establish and maintain the freedoms that we enjoy today….

…and to those who came across the sea….the Downs ancestors from England with the Winthrop Fleet in the 1630’s, and the Cresto’s who came from Italy just before the turn of the 20th Century.

King David Citadel – Jerusalem

Noticing on my calendar that Thursday of this week is not only Thanksgiving, but also the first day of Hanukkah, I was set to thinking of visits to Israel.

My humanity loves Paris and Rome – Jerusalem tugs at my soul……

Drawn by the iconic Tower of David just inside the walls of the Old City near Jaffa Gate….

In a city of ancient monochromatic stone walls, we entered the Citadel expecting more of the same. Imagine our surprise when we were greeted with the vivid colors of metal sculptures and glass art…..
