Birthday Girl(s)!

Seven years ago today I was given the best birthday present ever:  a granddaughter!!!!  I could never have imagined how much joy and how much pink she would bring into my life.

Pinkness: Grapefruit

Being the mother of sons is an incredible delight!  However, it leaves no room in one’s life for pink!  The mere mention of the word when they were young caused wrinkled noses and looks of dismay.   (To be accurate, there was a brief time in the 80’s when neon colors were popular, and a bit of the dreaded color crept into their wardrobes.)  However, by the 90’s and high school even their manhood seemed threatened by the consideration of anything pink related to their lives.

If you are pink-deprived as I used to be, try this wonderful (pink) grapefruit olive oil pound cake from deb perelman’s smitten kitchen cookbook
